Cover Discovery: Night School by Mari Mancusi & New Cover for Night Star by Alyson Noël

About~ Vampires, Slayers and...FAIRIES? Sunny and Rayne McDonald are about to get SCHOOLED.

After their parents' shocking revelation about their fae heritage and an attack on their lives, the McDonald twins find themselves on the run--forced to hide out at Riverdale Academy , a boarding school for vampire slayers, deep in the Swiss Alps. With no cells, no internet, and no way to contact their vampire boyfriends--the twins are on their own.

Being a vampire stuck in a school full of slayers isn't easy. Especially with no blood substitute stocked on campus. Soon Rayne finds herself succumbing to her bloodlust and losing control--especially around the arrogant, but devastatingly handsome Corbin Billingsworth the Third--who isn't sure whether he wants to kiss her...or kill her.

But when Sunny starts acting strange, Rayne realizes Riverdale Academy may be hiding some deadly secrets of its own--leading to a showdown in Fairyland that may cost the twins their lives.

My Thoughts~ Why the hell are all the good covers I find are part of series that I have not read yet. Is it bad luck or a mere coincidence? Who knows, who cares. Wait, I care!!! I have to get chaught up with many series. I hope to do that this summer. As you can see I have made 20 post this month and I hope next month I write gven more posts. This book sounds so good and the plot of the story sounds even better. I can't wait to read this. This book releases some day in January.

What do you think of the cover?

Also on another note, the author Alyson Noël has changed the cover to Night Star, book 5 to The Immortals series.

The Before Cover:

New Cover:

My Thoughts~ The girl in the new cover looks more like a doll than like a person. I like the new bottle on the cover but I wish they kept the sparkles above the bottle too. I honestly like the old cover better than the new cover. It looks like it would fit the styles of the other books in the series. But than again, I really, really, really, like the bottle or the other cover. I can't deside.

So which cover do you prefer?

Cover Discovery: Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting

Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting is the sequel to The Body Finder. I have not read the first book The Body Finder but I plan to do so, as soon as I have a copy. But, OMG. This cover is HOT!!! I love the fact that it has kind of the same flower as the first book in the series. And I have to say that I also kinda like the pink color on the cover too (and that for me is a big thing, because I HATE pink.) This book releases on March 15, 2011.

What do you think of the cover?

This month was way better then the last. I got so many books and I finally got a library card. Last Saturday, my mom took me to the library and when I saw all of the books in the teen area, I could have sworn that my heart stopped just by looking at all the pretty books. If I could choose two homes, it would be the library and the bookstore. I would have chosen more than 4 books to barrow but I ran out of room in my purse and on top of that I had to go somewhere afterward, so my mom said only four books. This month I also got part 1-9 to the Sookie Stackhouse Series since I am now a big fan of the True Blood TV show. (Eric Northman is H-O-T!!!) I also got Pretty Little Lairs (mostly because of the TV show) and Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine (Morganville Series Rocks!!!)

Waiting on Wednesday (3)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This week's pick is iDrakula by Bekka Black. iDrakula hit shelves October 01, 2010.

About~ 18-year-old Jonathan Harker is diagnosed with a rare blood disorder after visiting a Romanian Count. His girlfriend Mina and a pre-med student named Van Helsing team up to investigate the source of the disease. The
teenagers discover a horrifying truth: the Count is a vampire.

The harrowing events unfold through emails, text messages, web pages, Twitter feeds, and instant messaging—the natural modernization of Bram Stoker’s original Dracula, which was written in letters, diary entries, and news clippings.
(Description from Sourcebooks 2010 Fall Catalog)

My Thoughts~ I guess this is kind of the retelling of the Bram Stoker’s Dracula book. I love the Cover Art and the description sounds pretty good too. But besides from that I don’t know that much about this book.

What are you waiting for this Wednesday?

Review: Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine

About~ Leaving Morganville Texas, has never been easy. Living outside of it may be impossible.

Vampire Michael Glass just received the call he’s been waiting for all his life. His music has attracted the attention of a heavily of a heavily connected music producer who wants him to cut a demo and play some dates-which means Michael will have to enter the human world.

But he won’t be alone. He’s been assigned an undead escort, which includes immortal enforcer Oliver, as well as Michael’s human friends: rebellious Eve, oft-misunderstood Claire, and courageous Shane. And with that mix of personalities, this is going to be a road trip from hell.

But what waits for them proves more perilous then they thought. Caught between humans who hate them and a savage party of traveling vampires out to a blood-soaked feast for themselves, Michael and his friends may not make it to the show on time…or ever.

My Review~ Rachel Caine never disappoints me. The Morganville Vampire series just keeps getting better and better and better…

I love how the main character Claire Danvers matures throughout the series. And how her relationship with Shane is sweeter then ever. She is always so nice and sweet and in every book she gets more brave and braver and is never to afraid to try to stake a vampire (Well sometimes she is never afraid).

Eve, Michael, and Shane are always their funny self’s, and act like their brave when ever they need to be. And of course Oliver, he might be hard to like at first, but he tends to grow on you.

In the eighth book of the Morganville Vampire series, Michael Glass gets the call of his dream, to cut a demo at a recording studio. Amelie sends passes to Claire and her friends so they can go to Dallas, but they have to bring an escort, and that is where Oliver comes in. As they try to get to Dallas, they have so many obstacles to face before they can arrive on time or if they arrive at all…

The author met all my expectations and leaves us without any cliffhangers. I recommend that you put this book on the top TBR pile and read all the Morganville Vampire books as soon as you can. You will love it. I can’t wait for the next book, Ghost Town coming out October 2010.

L.A. Banks New Book

Shadow Walker is the first book in an exciting new young adult series by L.A. Banks. L.A. Banks is the author of the bestselling Vampire Huntress Legend Novels. My aunt has read all the books in that series but she say’s I’m to young to read it. But even if I was old enough to read it, I would have to buy my own copy since she has almost all the books in that series signed by the author, and when she has a book signed, no one can touch that book. Only she can.

In Shadow Walker, the teenage children of the world’s Guardians of the Light must learn to hone their extra-sensory talents to one day join in the battle with their parents.

While they are secreted away in the Temt Tchaas Academy, (aka Neteru Academy), these students must learn to fight evil as well as learn to resist the temptation of fighting with each other. Although these young people have super powers, they still struggle with the same dramas and insecurities like any other high school student – and just because their parents may be superhuman doesn’t mean their parents are perfect. Far from it. That only makes life more confusing, as peer pressure, budding romances, decisions about whether or not to snitch, or whether or not to use one’s supernatural gifts for personal gain must be sorted out. In this coming of age story, Sarah Rivera and her twin brother, Alejandro, must figure out when to use their wings or fangs, how to get along with their compound siblings, how to fit in with others in a huge new school, and perhaps most importantly, how to pick their battles to always fight for what is right.
(Summary from author's newsletter)

The release date for this book is someday in November 2010.

Waiting on Wednesday (2)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This week's pick is The Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. The Clockwork Angel hit shelves August 31, 2010.

About~ Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: Jem, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

(Description from Goodreads)

My Thoughts~ Hmmmmm. Now why would I want this book? I can answer that in two words. Cassandra Clare!!!! She is such a great author and I love her work. This book description just makes my mind crave to read this. And the cover is pretty freaking cool too. But waiting for August seem like a long time.

What are you waiting for?

Review: My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent

About~ Something is wrong with Kaylee Cavanaugh.

She doesn't see dead people, but...

She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about the need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next...

Soul Screamers
The last thing you hear before you die.

My Review~ This book was not what I was expecting it to be. I expected something like a bunch of fighting action, etc., but sadly this book had none of that. Actually this book had no fighting at all. Not one bit, well maybe a tiny part of fighting if you count hitting someone over the head with a frying pan. But besides from all that, the author kept me on my toes by all the info and history of bean sidhes (Pronounced: banshees) and how it all relates to the book. I also liked learning about Kaylee’s history and past.

In the beginning of the book, I felt like the author just jumps right into action with the soul screaming in the first chapter. And I just loved that. I was glad that I did not have to wait.

The love interest between Kaylee and Nash was also fun to read. And the title of the book does kind of match the plot of the story. Even though this book did not turn out like what I had expected, It was still fun to read and a great first book in the Soul Screamers Series. I recommend this book to go in your reading pile, but not on top. More likely in the middle of it and I just hope the next book in the series My Soul to Save will be better.
