Review: Ghost Town by Rachel Caine

About- While developing a new system to maintain Morganville's defenses, student Claire Danvers discovers a way to amplify vampire mental powers. Through this, she's able to re-establish the field around this vampire-infested Texas college town that protects it from outsiders.

But the new upgrades have an unexpected consequence: people inside the town begin to slowly forget who they are-even the vampires. Soon, the town's little memory problem has turned into a full-on epidemic. Now Claire needs to figure out a way to pull the plug on her experiment- before she forgets how to save Morganville...

My Review- As always, I just adore the Morganville Vampire Series. Rachel Caine never writes anything boring or a been there, done that book. And she always keeps us waiting on our toes for the next book in the series.

In Ghost Town, Claire has to fix the machine that runs the town since Ada got destroyed. Without it, the town defenses will be down, including the portals and the town barriers.

After some sort of incident, Claire has to finish working on the machine without any rest, to the point were she feels like just passing out. Once she finished, she thought everything would turn out just fine, but of course, it doesn't. Within the next day, she encounters one to two people who had forgotten something completely or temporarily.

As the novel progresses, we start to see some of Claire's friends get affected too. But in order to save Morganville, Claire has to get access to the Control Room under Myrnin's lab, but that is kinda hard to do when Myrnin also loses his memory and does not even remember who Claire is, or what happen to Ada.

Now, I don't want to give everything away just in case some of you are reading this but has not read the book yet. But as you can see, this book is anything, but boring. The ending is such a cliffhanger too. The cover looks great, but I feel like they could have done a better job. I guess that the girl on the cover could pass for Claire. I really recommend this book, and I just cannot wait till I get my hands on the copy of the 10th book of the Morganville Vampire series Bite Club.

Review: Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

Since it has been quite some time since I last wrote a review (since school started) it might not be as detailed as I usually write it. But now since school is over and I have taken all of my regents, it is now time for me to return to my blog.

About- Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way, but they'll leave you alone if you are careful. They are very good at hiding their natures from the human population, but I'm not human. I know them when I meet them, and they know me, too.

Mercy Thompson's sexy next-door neighbor is a werewolf.

She's tinkering with a VW bus at her mechanic shop that happens to belong to a vampire.

But then, Mercy Thompson is not exactly normal herself ... and her connection to the world of things that go bump in the night is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.

My Review- First of all, this is not a YA book. My aunt lent this book to me about a year ago, and sadly it took me all this time just to finally pick it up. As she always kept insisting that I pick this book up and read it, she promised me that the longer I wait, the more I would end up kicking myself in the butt for not reading it sooner. And she was right.

The main character Mercedes Thompson (also known as Mercy) is not just any ordinary women. She is a Walker. And by that I mean she can turn into a coyote. Now unlike the werewolf's, she is not a slave to the Moon, and it does not take her 15 minutes to shift into her coyote form.

When my aunt first recommended this series to me, I was okay with reading it, but at that time, all I ever wanted was to read YA books. So when I read this book, I fell in love with it. I also love the fact that it does not take forever for the author to jump right into action. Seriously, just two chapters in, and already there's a fight scene. The plot of the book is also wonderful. Mercy is trying to figure out who kidnapped her sexy Alpha werewolf neighbor's daughter. His name is Adam by the way. Throughout the book, we get to learn about Mercy's past and how she was raised and by whom.

The characters in Moon Called are written in well depth too. Plus I love Mercy's tattoo's that are on the cover. Well, at least the coyote paw print tattoo. But if you look at all the covers from the series, you will notice that most of her tattoo's represent what the book is going to be about more or less. I want to point out that just because this book in not a YA book, there is no inappropriate scene. But I do not know if that might change within the series. The author has you laughing, guessing what might happen next, and Patricia Briggs gives you many turning points too. But best of all is how the book ends. Overall, I really recommend this book to both YA and Adult readers.

Review: Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers

My Review~ This book was so good. I got hooked in the first chapter. It’s been about two months since I last read this book. I have just been so busy with school work that I have forgotten all about writing a review for it. So here I am writing about the things I remember best.

The first thing I remember best are the characters; Luc, Gabriel and Frannie. Frannie is the girl who both guys need to tag her soul. Luc needs to tag her soul for Hell and Gabriel needs to tag her soul for Heaven. And soon enough, both guys want her, but not just for her soul. And Frannie can’t help but feel the same way. But now she has to choose between them. Luc or Gabriel? Heaven or Hell? If I was in Frannie’s shoes, I would have a pretty hard time choosing between Luc and Gabe too…

This book is told from two different perspectives. One of them is Frannie and the other is told form Luc. I have to say though, I loved reading more from Luc’s perspective more then I did with Frannie’s. Although, it would have been nice to read through Gabriel’s point of view too. It would have been interesting to read how he saw Frannie, how he felt for her, and what he thought of the situation with Luc and all.

What surprised me the most was of course, the ending. I loved it, hated it, and everything in between. I loved what happened, hated some characters, and felt so many emotions pass by. I am proud to say that this was the first book I have read, that included demons and such, and I LOVED it!!! I can’t wait till the next book Original Sin comes out. But for now I recommend readers to read the book because they won’t be able to put it down…

My Review~ I love so many things about this book, I don’t know what to start complementing on first.

Well, I guess I could start on how I love that Elena’s character matured. She is no longer the girl who cares about her looks, but instead she cares about her friends, Stefan, and the town of Fell’s Church, and she would do anything to protect them all.

I also love that readers got to see a whole new side of Damon. Readers not only get to see the bad-ass vampire Damon Salvatore, but they also get to see the vampire side of him that cares for Elena and his little brother Stefan.

Speaking of Stefan, as the story went, I started to miss Stefan more and more. I missed how he and Damon fight, I missed how he tells Elena how much he loves her, and I just missed Stefan altogether. He’s an easy character to love.

And as always, I love the fact that the story is told from many different point of views. I also love all the new characters; like Lady Ulma and Sage for example.

But what surprised me the most was the ending. It was never what I would have expected. Not by a long shot. This might be the best book in the series as of yet. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the next upcoming book in The Vampire Diaries series. I recommend readers to put this book on their TBR pile pronto.

My Review~ When I first heard Stephenie Meyer is coming out with a new book, I was right on board with the rest of the Twilight fans. I was so happy and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. And now that I got it and read it, I wish it didn’t have to end the way we already knew it would.

As short as this book was, I love every second of it. I got to see how newborn vampires act and how wild they can be. Newborn vampires are just like teenagers, except we don’t kill and feed on human blood and such. And teenagers don’t have powers…but I wish we did…

This book was full of action, a little bit of romance, and…well…Vampires. Bree was…I don’t know how to describe Bree. And, well, Diego was an easy character to love. They both were. But as nice as there connection was, I wish it would have gone farther.

As I said before, I wish the book had a different ending. I’m not sure what else I could write in this review, without giving any spoilers to those who have not, but want to, read The Twilight Saga.

I recommend readers to read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner and The Twilight Saga. You won’t regret that you did. Oh yes, and one more thing I would like to point out is the cover. How cool is that? I love the hour glass. It matches the title perfectly.

My Review~ This was a review I had set up for a rainy day.

This book was such a roller costar. Elena has so much to deal with. In the beginning of the book, I felt that Elena was kind of a snob. When she first saw Stefan and he was pretending that he didn’t see her, she got so mad. It was kind of like a spoiled brat.

This book reminded me of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer in some ways. The love story between Elena and Stefan is like the love story between Edward and Bella, and how they are madly in love with each other.

The Plot of the story is vary interesting.

It’s quite different from what I thought it would be.

I thought it might be something like a girl who thought she was better than everyone else and she thought not even Stefan or Damon was good enough for her, but my god, how wrong was I? This book was better than anything else I have ever read. Well, at least for the moment. A girl caught between two vampire brothers who despise each other is the best plot ever. I recommend this book to readers, big time.

Review: Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel

My Review~ First off, sorry it took me so long to read and write this review. I have been really busy and life got in the way.

This was a vampire book like no other. The copy of the book of Infinite Days I own is an ARC. I got the book for review from Librarything.com.

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat while I was reading it. Even in the first chapter, I started to get easily hooked in Infinite Days. The point of view is told from the main character, Lenah. I love Lenah's personality and how she is willing to risk dying just to protect her friends.

In Infinite Days, there are also flashbacks or Lenah past. In one of the flashbacks, you read just how Lenah become a vampire and how her coven was created and how strong they were together.

I also liked the author's different aspect on vampires. It was quite interseting to read read how a vampire can't really feel an object, but only remember how it must have felt like from when they where human. And it was also quite interseting to read why a vampire can't go out in the sun. Like I said before, this book is a vampire book like no other.

The characters besides Lenah, was really fun to read too. Tony was the funny one, Justin was the hot one, and the three-piece were the girls that always think there all that, and so on...

What happened at the end surprised me the most. Everything in the last five chapters or so, were non-stop page turners. This book was so well writen, I loved it. I hope there's a next book. I recommend readers to put this book on their TBR pile and fast. You would not want to miss this book.

My Review~ Wow, the books in this series just keeps getting better and better. In My Soul to Keep, a Netherworld drug has come to the human world and when students in Kaylee school starts getting high and addicted to Demon’s Breath, Kaylee and Nash has to find and stop the source before their classmates go insane or die.

As I was reading, I had some things figured out, but other things were still a surprise. I love how the author’s writing kept me sitting on the edge on my seat. This book was such a page turner; I stayed up till 3:00 AM reading this book. I could not put this book down no matter what. And as always, I love how the author never wastes anytime and just jumps right into action in the first chapter. This book will get you hooked from the first page. On another note, the romance between Kaylee and Nash heats up a bit. And you can’t help but laugh at Tod’s funny sarcastic humor. Also I have to say that after reading this book, Tod is now my favorite character, next to Kaylee.

The ending was a surprise. And of course, I am glad to say that the author did not leave us with any big cliffhangers. I am quite happy to say that the Soul Screamers series is continuing another book, My Soul to Steal, in January 2011. It is going to be pure agony waiting for the next book. My Soul to Keep is a must read. If you haven’t started the Soul Screamers series yet, you are missing out on one great series.

My Review~ My Soul to Save, is way better then the last book My Soul to Take. This book has so much action; I was sitting on edge of my seat.

I adore Kaylee’s personality. She knows when to stand her ground and yet even though she might be afraid, she still somehow manages to almost get everything she wants. And, well, Nash is just sweet, loving, loyal, caring, kind, HOT…I could continue but I think you get the point. I wish I had a boyfriend like Nash. And Tod is just, as always, his funny self.

The plot of the story was quite different then what I thought it might be though. I thought the people with no souls were going to be too many too count, but it was surprisingly only a few number of people (At least that I know and remember of). But still, this is my favorite book in this series as of yet. This may not be much of a review, but, oh well. I recommend you put this book on your TBR pile FAST!!! And if you haven’t started this series you have no idea what you’re missing. I am going to start the 3rd book, My Soul to Keep, pronto and so should you.

Review: Dark Flame by Alyson Noël

My Review~ As much as I loved the last 3 books in this series, the forth book, Dark Flame, left me highly disappointed. The issues that Ever is dealing with, just keeps dragging on and on and on…

I felt like Ever was a broken record, every time Ramon was near or in front of her. Non-stop of how she just craves for his touch, his lips, blah, blah, blah…

I just wanted to grab Ever by the shoulders, shake her, and tell her to snap the hell out of it. If I had a dime for every time Ever describes how much she longs for Roman’s touch, I think I would be rich. And every time Ever went to The Book of Shadows to try to fix the spell she cast, I wanted to smack her. I could continue, but I think you get my point.

I think this book could have been made better. The characters were still great except for one who really got on my nerve (cough*Ever*cough). I also wish there was more of Haven in the book. I kept wondering how she’s coping with becoming an Immortal and if she really will get revenge on Ever for what she thinks she did to Roman at the end of the novel.

Speaking of what happen to Roman at the end of the novel, I am really mad at Jude. I can’t believe he killed Roman when Ever was thisclose to getting the antidote to the antidote. And since the very last chapter did not tell me much of anything that might happen next, I felt like we were left with a big cliffhanger. Add this book to your TBR pile, but not on top. Even though this book did kind of disappoint me, I’m still dying to read Night Star, which is the 5th and final book to The Immortals series.

Review: Shadowland by Alyson Noël

My Review~ I love this series. No I really mean I LOVE this series. I read the first two books last year in October and while the first book had some trouble holding my interest, the second book was easily devoured, just like how I devoured Shadowland, the third book in the immortals series.

In Shadowland, I felt like the story deepens with all the magic-magick?-and how the love interest with Damen and Ever grows, but there love is put to the test when Jude comes into the picture.

The main character, Ever, still has the same personality like she has in the first two novels, except that I feel like her confidence in herself has grown more stronger then before, and I’m proud of her for that. I’m glad she no longer questions herself why Damen would choose her over Drina. I was glad also glad she’s not giving up on finding the antidote to the antidote for she can be able to touch, hold, and kiss Damen again. And as cute as Roman sounds, he acts like such as jackass, I just want to punch him in the face and make him shut that dirty mouth of his. I sooo dislike him for doing what he did to Damen and Ever at the end of Blue Moon and I dislike Roman even more for what he did to Haven at the end of Shadowland. The choice he makes Ever choose from is so heartbreaking; you can’t help but feel like punching Roman in the face even harder…

On another note, I love the cover to the book. It’s so beautiful and I love the amulet that Ever’s holding. I wish I had one just like it. All in all, this was a very great book, and I hate the fact that I did not read this book sooner. You would love this book and you should put it on the top of your reading pile, and if you haven’t started reading The Immortals series, you should read the books ASAP.

My Review~ Rachel Caine never disappoints me. The Morganville Vampire series just keeps getting better and better and better…

I love how the main character Claire Danvers matures throughout the series. And how her relationship with Shane is sweeter then ever. She is always so nice and sweet and in every book she gets more brave and braver and is never to afraid to try to stake a vampire (Well sometimes she is never afraid).

Eve, Michael, and Shane are always their funny self’s, and act like their brave when ever they need to be. And of course Oliver, he might be hard to like at first, but he tends to grow on you.

In the eighth book of the Morganville Vampire series, Michael Glass gets the call of his dream, to cut a demo at a recording studio. Amelie sends passes to Claire and her friends so they can go to Dallas, but they have to bring an escort, and that is where Oliver comes in. As they try to get to Dallas, they have so many obstacles to face before they can arrive on time or if they arrive at all…

The author met all my expectations and leaves us without any cliffhangers. I recommend that you put this book on the top TBR pile and read all the Morganville Vampire books as soon as you can. You will love it. I can’t wait for the next book, Ghost Town coming out October 2010.

My Review~ This book was not what I was expecting it to be. I expected something like a bunch of fighting action, etc., but sadly this book had none of that. Actually this book had no fighting at all. Not one bit, well maybe a tiny part of fighting if you count hitting someone over the head with a frying pan. But besides from all that, the author kept me on my toes by all the info and history of bean sidhes (Pronounced: banshees) and how it all relates to the book. I also liked learning about Kaylee’s history and past.

In the beginning of the book, I felt like the author just jumps right into action with the soul screaming in the first chapter. And I just loved that. I was glad that I did not have to wait.

The love interest between Kaylee and Nash was also fun to read. And the title of the book does kind of match the plot of the story. Even though this book did not turn out like what I had expected, It was still fun to read and a great first book in the Soul Screamers Series. I recommend this book to go in your reading pile, but not on top. More likely in the middle of it and I just hope the next book in the series My Soul to Save will be better.

My Review~ P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast made this book better than the last. Better than all the books in the series. Even better than most vampire novels...

This book answered many of the questions I got from reading the last book Tempted. In Burned, Zoey soul gets shattered because she saw one of her friends (I am going to try to avoid names so I don't give spoilers to those who are not caught up with the series) die. In the meantime Zoey's warrior, Stark, is trying to find a way to get to the Otherworld without dying so Zoey can come back, but every single Vampyre says that's impossible.

Stevie Rae kinda also has the worst part of life. I love reading from Stevie Rae's point of view. I feel like she took Zoey's part with all the boy drama, etc. She's caught between a love triangle of her own with Dallas and Rephaim. Speaking of Rephaim, he also was fun to read from. Even though he is suppose to be evil, I have grew very found of him. I wish that he and Stevie Rae became a couple. They seem so perfect for each other.

Aphrodite played a very important role in the book even though she was not in it a lot. It's mostly her visions that make her important. We readers would have no idea were the story line might be going without her. But she's still her funny, sassy self. A character you gotta learn to love.

The ending of the book was quite good and thank god that the author's did not leave us with any cliffhanger this time. If you have not started reading the House Of Night series, I recommend you do because you don't know what your missing. I can't wait till the next book Awakening to comes out.

Review: Being Nikki by Meg Cabot

About~ Things aren't pretty for Emerson Watts.

Em was sure there couldn't be anything worse that being a brainic in the body of a supermodel. But is turned out she was wrong.

It turns out she has a mother who's gone mysteriously missing, a brother who's show up on her doorstep demanding answers, and a former best friend who's intent on destroying Stark Enterprises.

How can Em balance all that with school and runway shows- especially when she's got ex-boyfriends crawling out of the woodwork who want more than just a photo op- and a company she represents that seems to be turning to the dark side....

Not to mention trying to convince the love of her life that models aren't really airheads after all...especially one model in particular.


Nobody said it was going to be easy being Nikki.


My Review~ First off, I want to apologize for taking so long for me to read this book and write this review. I have been busy studying for final exams and doing many projects and H.W. for school. The only time I do get to read is when I have finished all my H.W. and projects for the day and that does not happen until late at night around 1:00AM and by that time I am tired as hell. I can't wait till school ends.

Anyway, back to the review.

This is one of the best chick-lit books I have ever read. I don't think any chick-lit book can top Meg Cabot's Airhead Series. I have nothing bad to say about this book.

I love how Meg Cabot writes the funny and quirky thoughts of Em Watts. I love all the new characters and their personality's. I love the plot of the story and all the problems Em has to deal with. At times I felt like there were more problems than answers. But a lot of the issues were answered at the end of the book. Which brings me to say the ending of the book was a big surprise. I was so not expecting what happened to happen. All in all, I recommend you read this book and put it in your TBR pile. I can't wait till I get to read the read the squeal in the Airhead series Runaway.

Review: Hearts At Stake by Alyxandra Harvey

My Review~ I loved this book; Hearts At Stake is Alyxandra Harvey’s first book, and I have to say, she did a pretty good job writing it.

Hearts At Stake is told from two different point of view. Solange and her best friend Lucy.

Solange is the only female vampire ever born, not made. About 800 years ago there was a prophecy that said that there will be a daughter born into the Drake family and she is destined to become a vampire queen.

Lucy, Solange’s best friend, is a human who’s not afraid to break some noses or speak her mind. I like reading from Lucy’s point of view more than I like reading form Solange. I feel like Lucy has more to say unlike Solange. A lot of the interesting things keep happening from Lucy’s point of view too. Lucy sounds a bit braver and stronger or at least she try’s to act to like it. One thing’s for sure, she never gives up.

Solange does have some interesting things from her point of view but not as much as Lucy. I didn’t enjoy her point of view until the near end of the book. I can’t imagine what it feels like to have 7 over protective older brothers. I only have one older brother and he alone is just too much for me. My sympathy goes to Solange.

I like the author’s wording of the book. The vampire politics and the different types of vamps are very original. The ending was a big surprise too. I do wish the author had focused a bit more on character development, but other than that this book left me wanting more which I think is what the author planned because I’m looking forward to reading the next book Blood Feud.

Review: Airhead by Meg Cabot

My Review~ My mom has always told me to spread my Horizon and to read something that does not have to deal with vampires, demons, werewolf’s, or anything that goes bump in the night.

So for once, I listen to her and I’m so glad I did. Airhead is the first chick-lit novel I have ever read, and I won’t be regretting it any time soon.

I loved the plot of the story. It’s not like any other plot I have ever read. This time it’s not a life or death situation. It’s totally different. This book is about a 16 year old girl who is such a tomboy and after one bad accident she wakes up finding herself in a body of a supermodel. But not just any supermodel, but instead teen supermodel sensation Nikki Howard.

The setting of the story takes place in New York (the fashion state). Emerson/Nikki has boy issues, friend issues, and most important trying to act like a model issues.

This book caught my interest from the first page. I highly recommend this book to be on your TBR pile, if have not read it yet.

My Review~ This is my first book I have read from Chloe Neill, and it wont be my last. In the beginning of the book, I was a bit bored, but of course that was only because Firespell is the first book in the Dark Elite series. So in the beginning of the book it was all about the Intro. It was only until chapter 8 that things started to get interesting.

Besides form that, it was fun getting to know about the funny and quirky characters. Scout with her humor, Lily with her sarcasm, Jason with his hotness…, etc.

Overall I loved this novel. It’s a fun read. I can’t wait till book two Hexbound comes out in January. I wish Hexbound gets released sooner. Put this Novel on your TBR Pile.

My Review~ Okay, as much as I love the House Of Night series, I felt like no questions or problem were solved or answered. Instead I wound up having more questions and in the story there were more issues. At times I was a bit confused. The drama was still great, the characters were still funny, but sadly this was not what I was expecting for the 6th book of the House Of Night series. I hope the 7th book Burned is way better.

Review: You Are So Undead To Me by Stacey Jay

About~ Q: How many zombies does it take to ruin a social life?

A: Not many.

Megan Berry is a zombie settler by birth, which means she’s part-time shrink to a whole bunch of semi-dead people with killer issues. All Megan really wants is to go to homecoming, but when you’re trailed by a bunch of slobbering corpus whenever you leave the house, it’s kind of hard to score a date. Let’s just say Megan’s love life could use some major resuscitation.

Megan’s convinced her life can’t get any worse-until someone in school starts using black magic to turn average, angsty Undead into scary, hardcore flesh-eating Zombies. Now it’s up to Megan to stop the zombie apocalypse. Her life-and more importantly, the homecoming dance-depends on it.

My Review~ Wow…..I love this book. The author made me feel like I was the main character. Stacey Jay gets into the mind of a true teen (and I, being a teen, should know that very well). The plot of the story was very interesting. This book was so fun to read. I felt like I was not reading at all. I loved the ending too. And the chemistry between Megan and Ethan is simply breathtaking. If you don’t put this book on top of your reading pile, you will regret every second of it.
